This week has been blazing hot in Madeira, and in consequence, fires started all over the island, (you can see on my twitter some pictures of the horror) my beautiful island was burning for 3 days, and I could see one of the fires from my terrace, away from us, thankfully, but it was still a horrible image to see. So far, some people lost their houses, lands, and belongings, and some even lost their animals :(
It was a true tragedy, (they even called it a catastrophe). Firefighters were unstoppable, and if it weren't for them and for brave people who jumped in to help it could have been much worse. There are still some active fires, and I hope that it doesn't spread much. Unfortunately the heat is in the whole country and there are fires in some places of the Portuguese continent too.
In the year of 2010, in the winter we had a flood catastrophe (due to the constant rain), a lot of people died and some, like now, lost everything, and then another horror of fire in the summer, that destroyed our beautiful natural park. I just hope that karma find us in the middle of the Atlantic and save us from further fires and rains for the rest of eternity, because this is just too much for one little island.
